What These Words Mean
Well-Being
For Bao, a sense of well-being comes first. She sees happiness not simply as a pleasant feeling, but as something that makes many other good things possible.
She hopes her future self can live with more ease, joy, and emotional steadiness, creating a foundation from which other parts of life can grow.
Discernment
Bao hopes to become someone with stronger judgment and clearer decision-making. To her, discernment means being able to recognize what matters and make thoughtful choices.
Nurturing Others
Bao also hopes to become someone who can nourish and support the people around her.
She connects this quality with a sense of value. Being able to help others grow, feel supported, or receive something meaningful from her is part of the kind of person she hopes to become.
What Appears in the Collage
Flowers dominate Bao’s collage. She shared that her mother has always loved growing flowers, and that being around them since childhood shaped her own affection for them.
She was especially drawn to an image from the Dunhuang murals that reminded her of figures scattering flowers. The collage also includes butterflies, landscapes, and layered floral imagery, creating a visual world that feels abundant and alive.
When asked what feeling she hoped others might take from the work, her answer was simple: something a little happier.

For Bao, the future is about cultivating a life that feels happy and grounded, making wiser choices along the way, and becoming someone whose presence can help others grow.
